Boyajian Honored for Bringing ADL Denial to Light

WATERTOWN, Mass. (A.W.)—On April 22, the Town Council of Watertown bestowed a proclamation honoring investigative journalist David Boyajian for bringing to light and to the public’s attention the implicit Armenian Genocide denialist policies of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and its country-wide No Place for Hate programs.

Following the council’s roll call, the pledge of allegiance, and the acceptance of minutes from their April 8 meeting, the floor was opened council president Clyde L. Younger approved the motion to issue the proclamation.

Council vice president Mark S. Sideris bestowed the framed proclamation to Boyajian for his good works, to which Boyajian stated in thanks, “We have a wonderful system in this country that allows freedom of speech and freedom of the press. But we must be insistent and persistent in actually using and protecting those rights.”

He added, “If you think you see injustice, please, speak up. Individuals and organizations will hear you and—sometimes, one never knows—they will agree with you and take action. And the world may wind up being a better place because of it.”
