ANC-New Jersey Commemoration Event

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. (A.W.)—On April 24, the Armenian community in New Jersey gathered at the St. Vartanantz Armenian Church for the annual commemoration event, organized by the ANC of NJ.

In her opening remarks, ANC of NJ chairperson Kim Arzoumanian talked about the ever-intensifying efforts by Turkish groups to challenge the Armenian-American community’s efforts for genocide recognition.

The keynote speaker of the event was Armenian Weekly editor Khatchig Mouradian, who delivered the message of the day. He spoke about the role the new generation is playing in the struggle against human rights violations and genocide.

The event also included presentations and performances by the AYF, the Hovnanian school alumni, and the Nareg Saturday School.

Father Hovnan Bozoyan concluded the evening with prayers. A display of genocide paintings by artist Mher Khachatryan set the somber mood at the church hall.
